4 Advantages of Smartphones with Earphone Jacks

The 3.5mm earphone jack is starting to disappear on current smartphones, especially in the flagship class. However, there are still smartphones that have an earphone jack. What are the advantages compared to installing a DAC?

In 2016, one brand of smartphone with a fruit name made a smartphone without an earphone jack, and this was followed by other brands over time. However, many people still need an earphone jack on their smartphone. I don't need it myself because I can install a DAC.

Here are 4 advantages of smartphones with earphone jacks :

1. Simply Plug in Wired Earphones or No Hassle

It's easy, just plug it in. Most people don't want to hassle with using wireless earphones/TWS or installing a DAC. Use wired earphones if the smartphone has an earphone jack, because you just have to plug it in without any setting or pairing, etc.

2. Sufficient Sound Quality

Not everyone is an audiophile and cares about sound quality. Most people just want sound, and for them as long as the sound comes out of the smartphone's earphone jack, it doesn't matter how bad it is. So, most people just plug in earphones bought from a counter, which can produce sound. Not all earphone jacks included with smartphones are bad. For example, the LG V series uses a good Quad DAC.

3. More Power Efficient

External DACs and Bluetooth also have the same disadvantage, which is that they use more battery power. It is not very power-hungry to plug earphones directly into the built-in jack of a smartphone, because the average power of a built-in jack on a smartphone is very small. This makes it so that the average smartphone can't lift heavy earphones, but it makes the battery more efficient (built-in smartphone earphone jacks usually only have power below 50mw).

4. Want to Listen to Music and Play Games While Charging

Neither of them can charge while listening to music, compared to using a converter or DAC. Although it can be more complicated, you have to use a converter again. On the other hand, through a separate jack, users can charge and plug in earphones at the same time. As a DAC user, I miss being able to play music while charging. This is not for TWS and converter users who can charge at the same time.

Even though there are DACs and wireless earphones, there are still some people who cannot replace the jack on their smartphone.

I hope this is helpful.
